King współpracował już wczesniej z Berni Wrightsonem przy komiksie "Creepshow". W 1984 roku Stephen King poprosił go o przygotowanie ilustracji do planowanego wydania pełnej wersji "Bastionu". Artysta przygotował serię prac, które znalazły się w książce.
W 1991 roku wydawnictwo Glimmer Graphics wydało portfolio w dwóch wersjach:- wersja standardowa zawierająca 12 grafik
- wersja limitowana do 1200 numerowanych egzemplarzy z autografem artysty na dodatkowej grafice.
Mój egzemplarz portfolio ma numer #731 i mam nadzieję kiedyś dokupić do niego limitowaną edycję "The Stand" z tym samym numerem.
